Harbinger of the connected world

The mobile phone buzzes. Its the buzz notification of text. And text no longer seems associated with SMS. These buzzes are notifications from various applications that run on your smart phone. From the applications that run your chat messaging, to the daily updates that spring from the numerous other apps, to the basic email updates.

For some its an alert each time they enter a Wifi area. While some others prefer to be forever hooked with data plans.

Buzz alerts indicating a connected world.

Would there be an option to stay connected without receiving updates?

Muting your mobile notifications, should work. Reminds me of a scene from a movie - when a lead actress offers the lead actor a drink and he asks if she would misuse his inebriated state. And she says, "Of course not", to which he slyly responds - "then what’s the point in drinking".

Coming back to the point of muting your updates and wanting to stay constantly updated. Seems a bit tricky.

The app store usually has an app for everything. Perhaps there would be an app for this too in the productivity category. If its not out there yet, hope somebody would carve one out.

The proof of concept should cover, let’s say:
"Before buzzing me the latest updates - figure my mood in receiving any update, without going through my calendar, status emoticons or other personal information. Once figured, mute the update or delay the update or alert me instantly."

If you have seen an advertisement by a mobile operator wherein the kids make their parents happy and in return get a favorable share from the family data package.

Or another one, which has a baby double checking with God before being born into a family. With the baby refusing to be born into a family that has a slow internet connection.

Or yet another one, in which a baby is born with technical know-how of the latest and takes a selfie with the nurse!

Was these ads really silly, or its just a harbinger of the connected world.

Parents of the earlier generation used to raise children by seldom acknowledging their kids positives. Tables have turned.

Today most parents raise their children, showering them with lavish praises like ‘they’re special, smart, intelligent’. They then gift them with tablets, mobiles and television viewing rights to engage their time.

Studies reveal that this in fact inflates the kids ego and eventually they underperform when things don’t come easily to them. What’s worse is that they turn into narcissistic twits.

Come to think of it, selfies have always been there for a long time. Any guesses on how it grew in popularity all of a sudden?
