Day of the Fool

The days of our lives,  if to be probed - would mostly require the assistance of a chart of tiny boxes containing information - the datebook or the event timetable marker, better understood as  the calendar.

The applications which come under the category are varied. From seasonal information, to personal reminders, to the chart of the time of the year to any time-classified information - that can be quickly referenced by this paper contraption or its paperless digital counterpart.

Quickly rewinding to an interesting piece of history, that dates to September 1752 - this particular month  has 11 days missing from it. Get convinced with a google search of September 1752. This was the month during which England shifted from the Roman Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar (the one in use today).

As the Julian year was 11 days longer than a Gregorian year, the King of England ordered 11 days to be wiped off the face of that particular month. The Roman Julian calendar had April as the first month of the year, while the Gregorian calendar observed January as the first month. Even after shifting to the Gregorian calendar, many people refused to give up old traditions and continued celebrating the 1st April as the New Year's Day. When simple orders didn't work, the King finally issued a royal dictum, which stated that those who celebrated 1st April as the New Year's day would be labelled as fools. That my friends is the story of the origin of the Day of the Fools.

Now let me enlighten you on to theory of the Hindu units of time - the Hindu religious scriptures describe the creation and destruction of the universe as a cyclic process, which repeats itself forever. The life in the universe is created and destroyed once every 4.1 to 8.2 billion years. The cycle is of four ages that constitute the 'epoch' or 'era' that is known as Yuga, having four namely:

Satya Yuga,Treta Yuga, Dwapar Yuga and Kali Yuga.

Currently we are said to be in Kali Yuga, that began at midnight 17 February in 3102 BC of Julian calendar. According to which information as of 2013, only 5115  (3102 + 2013) years are passed out of the 432,000 years of current Kali Yuga. That is, another 426,985 years are left to complete this Kali Yuga.

My interest lies in a challenged viewpoint of this yuga cycle, by 19th century yogi Swami Sri Yukteshwar Giri - who ascertained in his book The Holy Science that we are currently in Dwapara Yuga. The Kali Yuga had started in 500 A.D and ended in 1700 A.D. That year ushered in the Dwapara Yuga, a 2400 year period of electrical and atomic-energy developments, the age of telegraphs, radio, airplanes etc. The Treta yuga will start in 4100 A.D and will be marked by common knowledge of telepathic communications etc.

We are at the beginning of the Dwapara Yuga;  having passed 312 years of it - we have expanded our inventions so far into the wireless era with the mobile-touch interfaces.
The telegraph, fax, telephone etc have enabled communication with our clinging onto the wired connection.  While the Door-darshan (tele-vision) has got us grabbing onto the visual images over the air; the mobile phones have allowed us to free ourselves from the wired-captivity allowing movement to roam using wireless communication.

However, we are still far-flung from cracking the code to tune into the frequency of the caller destination at will (telepathic), without the mobile device.  As that evolution is like 2087 years away from becoming common knowledge, we can better utilize hands-free by transferring the interface to the eye (Google Glass), for now!

As long as we continue our Fool hardy days with the mobile device, until we are  better quipped to tune into the frequencies within our heads - we might as well make better of our time with the hand held devices.

Until next time, its another day of the ordinary  done.
